Summerland Watershed Post-Fire Emergency Sampling
The Bald Range wildfire broke out within the Trout Creek watershed on August 7, 2026.
In anticipation of citizens returning post-evacuation, LAC was contracted to sample and assess the watershed and confirm potability of the source water entering District of Summerland’s distribution system. The goal was to determine the status of source water quality, and to evaluate the potential risk from wildfire ash, fire retardant, and landfill leachate.
This project came about on short notice, but LAC is pleased to have been able to assist the District of Summerland in providing water to returning citizens.
